Very Disappointed. We chose A Pignata with great anticipation - for the location, for the food, for the experience. Our arrival was delayed due to flight delays beyond our control. Enroute, hours earlier, we called and advised reception that we would arrive after midnight; when we arrived, all lights were out - total darkness. We had been traveling for over 15 hours, it was cold, and we had just driven the mountain roads in the dark. Only after we honked the horn of our car a second time did someone appear (Antoine). That was not a good start. Regrettably, this lack of concern did not change - nothing was ever offered to us to make up for this terrible oversight - especially given the fact that we had paid for a meal we arrived too late to take. But, what really defines our disappointment was the restaurant. We were very happy to be eating regional cuisine, but the idea that we would not be offered any choice of main course (other than a vegetarian option), nor any other menu options (starter, dessert, etc) - is unique in our considerable travel experience staying at this level of accommodation. In a hostel, I would understand; not in a highly rated French hotel. For such a remote location, there has to be a strongly compelling reason to come (i.e., the food). We thought it would be the food, but this experience does not provide proof. Tant pis.
