Continental Hotel Budapest

Great hotel sorry we only stayed one night the upgrade was fantastic.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay and found the staff friendly and helpful. The hotel has a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
We will ceartainly come back.

Loved Budapest. Zara hotel helped me to experience some luxury. Beautiful atmosphere inside. Clean, open, airy, respectful service with well suited decor. My only judgement would be on location. Walking to main hubs became tiring, particularly at night where I had to be cautious.

This year i was for the second time in your hotel. and it was excellent!! till next year!

The hotel itself is clean and the decor was lovely. The room was small but tastefully decorated and clean. We are smokers and although there was a lovely area to smoke , the bar was upstairs so we had to keep walking up and down the stairs. On the first day we ordered a coffee and decided to take it to the smoking area. My partner told the girl behind the bar where we were going and that we would be returning. She then ran after us in front of other guests and ordered us to pay before we went downstairs. On another occassion when we sat in the smoking area with a drink she asked us what we were doing with the glasses. Perhaps staff could actually take drink orders in the smoking area. On one day the smoking area was taken over by corporate guests so we decided to sit in the outdoor resteraunt area. The waiter walked past us 3 times and we had to ask if we could have a coffee. I asked to pay on my room bill and they had to send two people to sort this. They asked my name and room number and then went away before returning and adking me to sign. However the man opposite with a laptop had the very best service with wine being poured into his glass. I felt that the waiter looked down his nose at me because i was in shorts! This made me feel very uncomfortable. The rest of the staff were polite but slightly Aloof. I think the cleaners were the most friendly!
The rooftop area was lovely and great on a hot day.
The hotel itself is amazing but i felt that unless you were in a suit you were frowned upon and definately not treated the same. I have to add i do wear a suit at work and have a highly paid job at home but i dont dress that way when relaxing.
I wAs asked if we enjoyed our stay and we said so-so and the man at reception responded with oh! That would tell me that he wasnt really interested in whether i enjoyed my stay or not. Its a shame as the hotel is great but the service in the bar is poor and i didnt feel welcome.

It was a really pleasant stay. Only recomendation, the deposit needed right at our arrival without having the option to provide it a little later (after a walk to the city center to find an ATM easier for example).
