Jedzenie były pyszne, pokoje czyste i schludne. Część basenowa wraz z saunami spełniła moje oczekiwania. Obsługa miła i sympatyczna, zawsze na miejscu.

Wonderful retreat from the madness of the masses of tourists

Zakopane boasts incredible views, fantastic hiking, and scenic skiing. Yet the center of town consists of crowds, noise, endless repetitive shops, and varying restaurants. We lucked into the Grand Hotel Stamary. We arrived from Krakow by bus in October and, on a whim, walked into the lobby inquiring about rooms.
-- not only they offer a nice room at a reasonable (for Zakopane) rate, but we learned that the room included no-cost access to a beautiful indoor pool; clean & large hot tub, sauna, steam room and more.

This hotel itself was a destination for us. We enjoyed the outdoor activities during the day, and the hotel at the end of the day. As a present to each other, my wife and I bought our spouse a 50-minute massage ($100 package total) that we enjoyed the afternoon we checked out.

Pro's:
- more than a hotel, Samary is a destination where you can hang out at the spa or among the cozies around the lobby and hallways
- very near the train and bus station. Great place to drop off baggage if you arrive before check-in
- very close to many wonderful restaurants away from the main street and the masses
- reasonable (but not cheap) rates. Great value.

Cons:
- like some vintage B&Bs, some of the trimmings seem dated or worn.
- 10-minute walk to shopping area might turn some travelers off (we considered that a plus ourselves though)
- front rooms might pick up car noise (we stayed in the rear)

Tips:
- Ask for an upgrade to a suite if they have one empty. We did and were given a full suite at the cost of a regular room
- If you plan on departing late in the day, ask them to store bags. You can also ask to use the SPA facilities in the afternoon (or schedule a massage/facial then) so you are bathed and fresh for traveling that evening.
- Ask about nearby restaurants. The staff is very knowledgable and won't steer you to the usual traps.
Room Tip: Rooms facing the street might get vehicle noise in the morning.
Stayed: October 2017, traveled as a couple
