All in all it was a pleasant stay. Using the lift turned out to be a minor challenge though (we had a buggy with us).

The hotel Bristol has a great location for a tourist---minutes from the train station and close to Zurich attractions. The staff was very friendly and helpful with directions for bus transportation when we needed assistance. The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable and the breakfast provided selections to meet all tastes. We would not hesitate to book a repeat visit.

Considering all factors, it was a NEGATIVE experience. I was double-charged for the Swiss city tax (once by Booking.com and again by the hotel). I explained this carefully to the hotel staff, but she insisted on charging me again. I even showed them my printed receipt from Booking.com that states clearly that I have already paid the Swiss city tax, but she ignored what I showed her. Also, please (PLEASE!) get some air conditioning. My room was so hot that I could not go to sleep, or stay asleep, even with the fan. The room was not quiet or comfortable. The next time I come to Zurich, I will find a different hotel that has air conditioning. I will never stay in Hotel Bristol again.

Thank you for your review over our Hotel.

When you booked your room you booked a non-refundable rate and the Hotel (not Booking.com) charged for the whole stay in advance. The City Tax (in Zürich 2.50 CHF per Person per night )has to be paid at check-in or check-out directly in the Hotel. If a guests does not arrive than he does not have to pay the City Tax.

Booking.com stated clearly on your confirmation that the City Tax is not included and this is an additional surcharge. The VAT and the Service is included but not the City Tax. Booking.com never charge you directly, it is always the Hotel.

But please complain to Booking.com and maybe you show them the proof that there is a double charge and maybe they give you the money back.

Regarding the air- condition we are really sorry that Zuerich has a heat wave and that you felt uncomfortable. We have this Kind of weather maybe 3 weeks in the year . If you prefer to have air-condition than you need to check with the Hotel in advance, because we never advertise that we provide air-condition.

Regarding the fresh fruit I am curious how many fresh fruits you need, because we offer apples, bananas and at the moment peaches and yes we offer canned fruit cocktail.
We improved this already because we had a lot of remarks regarding our breakfast.

Again I am sorry for you that you felt uncomfortable and that Hotel Bristol was not the right place for you.

My overall experience with this hotel was very good. It is located quite close to the main railway station, which makes it easy to access. The hotel webpage has directions from the station to there, as well as other valuable information about city transport and most important sightseeing highlights - this is something a traveler might need, too. The room was nice, clean and reasonably sized. The staff at the reception desk were very helpful and did quite a lot to answer my questions about train routes and timetables. Generally, I did enjoy my stay there and, if I ever come back to Zurich, I will seriously consider staying there again.

I travelled with my parents to Zürich. We stayed only for one night due to our tight schedule, but its a hotel where we would certainly stay if we come back to Zürich.

Very poor. We would never stay there again. This was the second time and at least we had a better room last time. We would not recommend this hotel to any of our friends.
