lovely staff -all of you-room compact but had all you needed -for 2 people alittle small -i have a problem with my back and mattress too soft

Bathrooms were very small and bed was uncomfortable and street noise made it difficult to get good sleep. Free parking was a plus as was the location.

We loved the hotel and the grounds. The Church and the history of the surrounding area made it one of the best places that we stayed in Iceland. I highly recommend .

The hotel was in a great location. We were able to walk to all the key places. The bathroom was really small. Only one person at a time. The space was kind of configured weirdly. We had a suite and the couch was off on its own with no view of the TV or any kind of coffee table. It would better to enlarge the bathroom and closet space. Loved the amenities and goodies.

Great stay, other than tired stained carpet in the room, everything was great.

My friend and I had a great time during our stay. The junior suite was perfect, with extra space for the luggages and all the amenities.
The breakfast was very good, with a nice selection of fresh sweet and savory products. If I had to point out one drawback, it would be the breakfast hours — starting at 7 a.m. is unfortunately a bit late for those joining early day tours. We often had to rush through it or skip it entirely.

The staff at the hotel including Gabriella and Adam were very very nice, as was the bartender, although I cannot remember her name.

The lobby area had comfortable seating and there were a lot of places to sit and visit with family and/or friends.

I was however, disappointed that I did not have a refrigerator. Also, there was no restaurant although when I booked this in March on booking.com the description indicated there was a restaurant.

Also, initially the bed in my room was very, very uncomfortable and to my delight, although I only asked for a mattress topper they replaced the entire mattress.

There is a grocery store fairly close to the hotel. It was about a 10 minute walk to the rainbow road.

First off, Gabriella at the front desk was hilarious and so helpful. Loved her!! Second, Hotel Holt was our first hotel in Iceland and we loved the vibe of the historic old hotel with lots of wood, leather furniture, and most of all, a large art collection. Don't forget to stop in the room next to the lobby to read about all the important points of Icelandic history that the hotel owners and hotel has had a part in! The room itself was okay- the stained carpet needs to be replaced. The bed was very comfortable with good pillows. The room was equipped with a minibar and coffee machine (our fridge was not working). There is a separate toilet and shower area from a large bathtub- the water pressure was excellent and the shower was perfect after a long flight. Our room had great blackout curtains. The room was warm initially so we left the windows open during the day to cool it down for sleep. It smells like an older hotel, which could be bothersome to some. There are no other amenities that I know of- no spa, pool/hot tub, gym, etc, just a good place to base city exploring from. We did not eat the optional breakfast at the hotel so we cannot comment on that. Parking was easy and free for our rental car! Location is excellent- very walkable to where shops and restaurants are, but set in a quieter part of town. Overall, we liked it here and were glad to experience the historic Hotel Holt, but wouldn't likely choose it again if we returned to Reykjavik given the price we paid.
