The location was really great - close enough to walk everywhere, but a little quieter than places in the heart of the old town. Staff was super friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay very much and it could only have been improved by not having that hotel lighted sign on all night.

Little remote location, but still good for walking to the city.

For what I paid Hotel Scherer was about right, however, I set my search parameters for 4-stars and while Hotel Scherer claims 4 stars, it is nowhere near this level of standard. I would say Hotel Scherer is a solid 2 star, 3 would be a stretch, definitely not 4. I toured Europe and stayed at all 4 star hotels and they were consistent in standard (updated, Free WIFI, nice amenities). I found Scherer to be more of a "Motel 6" than a world class 4 star hotel. But, all that said, the price was considerably low. Location is away from the Old town and in a rougher neighborhood.
