A perfect delight!
Le Petit Palais is exactly what you imagine for a hotel on the Cote D'Azur. Intimate, beautiful and serene, and just a stroll away from the bustling mecca of patisseries, restaurants, shops, galleries and people-watching that provides the other part of Nice's fatal attraction. (You will survive but the scars will be deep. :-)
The Petit Palais is the picture of perfection from the moment you arrive at its perch on the hill overlooking Nice and the sea, to the last second of your stay.
Grace and easy simplicity comprise its allure. The rooms are lovely and accented with French toiletries and antiques, but smallish; the view of the sea is distant, though energizing, and the breakfast is standard. But the bliss! From basking in the chic lounge chairs in the sun-drenched oasis of the pool area, to sipping tea in the garden with an urbane resident parrot, or chatting with the night clerk who has obligingly poured you a nightcap after closing hours at the bar, Le Petite Palais sates you. It leaves you ready for your next journey while pining for the chance to retrace your steps here again.
Merci pour le hospitaliter.
One final note: wear your Converse runners, fashionistas. You'll be hiking up the hill with the finds from your day. Or call Uber. But be SURE to come.
