Overall, it was just about ok.
I had looked forward to using the pool but because the family was so shy and a bit awkward, I felt too ill at ease to use it (the pool). If i had to stay here again, I wouldn't be devastated but I would not look forward to it either.
The dirty carpet thing was a bit weird. When I arrived, the carpet was covered in what looked like ketchup, as if Jackson Pollock had had a food fight. I thought that perhaps the stain was permanent. There was also ground-in dirt on the carpet at the balcony door. After breakfast on the first day I went to the supermarket and bought a carpet cleaning mousse (2 euros - I couldn't face complaining because they seemed kind of unapproachable) and then used it. To my surprise, the ketchup simply melted away. So the housekeeper had seen the stains (on at least 2 occasions) and had thought it was ok to leave it like that. During the day I went out to sit on the balcony and found the plastic cup with many cigarette butts and saw the chair had food stains on it. That was when I brought in the owner to have a look. Strangely, instead of getting a cloth and wiping the seat, she took the chair with her! I never got any kind of apology.
Given that you never know what the previous guests have done in your hotel room, you have to trust that said hotel room is immaculately clean. In this case, that trust was not there. I began to suspect the linen had not been changed before I got there (which was my first thought on arrival). Glad I was only there for 3 nights before my holiday proper began.
