This is a convenient stop while in Iceland to relax before or after a flight at KEF. We arrived well before our check in and the kind staff was able to accommodate us. We had a relaxing time at Blue Lagoon just up the road before our best meal in Iceland at Max’s restaurant. We will absolutely be back on future trips and layovers in Iceland.

Very, very friendly, helpful and professional staff! From A to Z our experience was top notch.
After out one night stay in Northern light we stayed in a chick and expensive hotel in Reykjavik. We agreed that hadn’t it been for the volcanic activity in the days just around our stay we would have preferred to stay in NL inn!

The hotel was great.The staff were so helpful especially getting us from the airport on arrival and also helping us get into Reykjavik early in the morning.

The experience was great from start to finish. Everyone was very responsive to questions leading up to the trip and whether or not we would be able to check in given the extenuating circumstances at the time. We were warmly greeted at the airport and informed of our surroundings during our transfer to the hotel, even when the van broke down and we had to wait for another ride! The room was very spacious for our family of 5, it was very easy to get a ride to and from the Blue Lagoon, and dinner at Max's was superb! While I typically stay at larger chain hotels when I travel--especially to a brand new country--I am so glad that we chose NLI as our first stop in Iceland. We will definitely be back!

We loved our stay at Northern Lights Inn. It was so cozy and comfortable, and we enjoyed talking to the staff (hi, Siggy!). The large room with the honor bar, sofas and fireplace is a really nice touch and makes the hotel feel warm and inviting. We will definitely stay here again if we are able to come back to Iceland. We were fortunate to have checked out minutes before the hotel was evacuated, but heard only wonderful things about how the staff handled the evacuation. Best wishes to everyone in the future navigating the volcanoes and situation in Grindavik!

Loved our brief stay here. Tragically it was cut short by the eruption on 8th Feb.
The first few nights were excellent. We were lucky enough to get a good show of the Northern lights on our very first night, which I would have missed if it weren't for the optional wake-up alarm service they provide.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Excellent service all round.
After the evacuation, the staff were communicative and very swift in arranging alternative accommodation for us, despite my phone having network issues, and despite us making an "executive decision" and driving off into the sunset (the police were keen to get everyone away, in any direction, as quickly as possible, understandably). We spent the day soaking at the Secret Lagoon wondering if we'd dreamt the whole thing, but the hotel had already been in touch and sorted everything for us before we got there.
We're genuinely worried about the hotel and its staff, and Grindavik as a whole. We hope that everything is somehow made safe and they can all have some safety and security very soon.
