We. Had a lovely time, we chose to upgrade and we found this very good value for money. We did find the bathroom required some upgrading , some swollen wood that made the paintwork look poor. But despite this we would visit again. The lady in the breakfast room remembered us from our last visit. And greeted us warmly.

Yes it was very good . I didn't have breakfast and I payed far more than my Freinds did for the same weekend which I thought was a big difference in price so will be careful the next time I book .

The Royal is one of those hotels that manage to keep the charm of days gone by, but do so with a modern touch. Excellent location for guests arriving by train. Comfortable rooms, friendly staff. Highly recommended by me.

The staff on both occasions in the restaurant and reception were both rude and unhelpful. On arrival I was not given the vouchers needed to pay for my meal I had the embarrassment of your staff chasing me asking for payment after we left. The waiter in the restaurant was rude and abrupt he did not ask if we wanted a dessert and I felt he was looking down his nose a little at us so we felt very incomfortable. My daughter also had this impression of the waiter when she stayed last year. The breakfast was lovely and we were happy with our room but feel the receptionist needs to learn some manners as do the restaurant staff as they really let the hotel down.
