Whilst the room in general was good, there is serve maintenance needed. Our booking reference was via booking.com ref-1719778995, so from this I hope you can find the room, which I think was 219. The window in this room had glass ready to fall out, the one pane in the middle had dropped in the frame and was letting outside air in, one of the others pane above was very lose and not securely fixed. This is not good enough for a hotel of your suppose reputation. I have photographs if this comment/problems with the window if this comment is questioned. On the 17th/18 April we are booked in to stay with you again. I hope this time the room has been better looked after than before. You can contact me on 01641541375 if you so wish.

On arriving we enquired about the free cocktail as part of the deal. This offer was unknown to the receptionist. We did not pursue the issue.
Dinner was somewhat erratic both in service and in menu content. My wife's starter included toast which turned out to be ciabatta style bread. This would've been fine had it been fresh and not congealed, cold and completely inedible. On asking we were abruptly informed " that is how it's supposed to be..." Again we did not peruse the matter being somewhat taken aback.

Breakfast was an experience indeed. No sooner than our breakfasts were finished we were approached to have out plates cleared. Fine in theory, but in practise some sort of subtlety would have been welcome. Indeed one waitress was so keen she was dropping food from already cleared plates of food from other tables onto our table.

I ordered coffee and cake from the Gallery Coffee Lounge on the Monday before departure. The coffee was absolutely perfect. However the lemon drizzle cake was as dry as week old bread. 'Cutting' to use the old scots word. I asked the server to change it and he informed me that..
"I cut that this morning, it is ok..." " see, here is the big cake I cut it from, look, LOOK!"
I explained to him that my piece was either yesterday's or, more likely, had been sitting under the warm display lighting too long.
He eventually changed it, and indeed added two wee extra cakes to make up for the original order.
So all-in-all a rather interesting trip. Lovely hotel, fabulous Scottish staff on the reception but a definite language/ communication problem with other staff serving dinner, breakfast and such like.

Would find it difficult to return or indeed recommend the RHH to be honest.
Great location, lovely building, erratic staffing.
I also filled out the review sheet prior to our departure and supplied my contact details but haven't heard any reply from the hotel to date.

Made to feel very welcome. Nothing too much trouble especially for the breakfast staff. Would definately return.

Terrible service on arrival due to mix up with booking was advised I had to sort the problem out myself. I was at least one of three people complaining. We paid 12 each for breakfast and it was cold and terrible wouldn't stay here again .
