Disappointing, the standard room was dark and I could not put my contact lens in or put on make-up on because of no lighting around the mirrors. The bathroom was also dark, large scratches on the floor and the toilet seat needs changing. The bed was so hard we both didn't sleep. Also the card key took a age to get into the room. A area in the hotel with some armchairs for reading news papers or just relaxing would be nice the room adjacent to the main restaurant is wasted area. When checking out the receptionist asked for payment again for the 3 nights of parking which I had already payed in advance when I checked in ,I was asked for the receipt as proof.

Very disappointed in the size of the room and the points mentioned above. We have stayed in many hotels and have never before complained about the room until now.

Lovely hotel. Clean room and staff were always looking to help. Was one of the closest hotels I could find near the centre of York with parking on site. Would definitely recommend.

This was the second time we've stayed at the Churchill. We ate in the restaurant one evening and that was very good. Breakfast was good, but I was not impressed in having to pay for it an advance. I didn't pay for my evening meal in advance, and I put all our drinks on the room, so what's the difference ? I felt as if we were not being trusted to pay when we checked out.
I quested it with the chap on reception and was told it was because our table would be guaranteed no matter what time we arrived. And yet, when we entered for breakfast we were told to sit at any free table; so clearly no table was reserved. I was rather annoyed about having to get my money out of my pocket there and then in the afternoon when it could simply have been put on my room.

Most impressed. Bed very comfy and the general surroundings better than most other hotels inside/near a city centre. Would definitely come back again.

Wonderful; lovely friendly people; sorry we had to leave to go home but will be back...There is still so much to see in York even after so many return visits suggest National Railway museum, Jorvik, Barley Hall and we are looking forward to Henry VII / Richard III museums and walking the walls particularly when the daffodils are out in the Spring!

Nice hotel in a good location for access to York’s many places of interest. The staff were lovely and always very helpful.
