All very pleasant experience over the 2 days, but the family room was quite cramped - only 3 of us using it and would have been worse with 4

Staff really friendly, helpful, and accommodated our request for fried bread at breakfast, making fantastic hot chocolate, and for their guidance for visiting York. Would stay here again.

Excellent, could not have asked for anymore. All of the staff from reception to the waiting staff were faultless, a very enjoyable stay. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

The staff were very kind and helpful. The room was bigger than we expected, clean and the bed was very comfortable!

It was wonderful and I loved my room. I was very happy to stay in the "old" part of the hotel. I don't believe I would have been as happy to have a skylight as opposed to windows.

York is always my favourite city in UK since I spent 5 years studied in there. My finance and I booked two nights for our pre-wedding photo shooting for the group of six people. The breakfast service from the middle aged man who wear a pair of deep colour glasses was extremely rude. Our photographers came to have breakfast before the rest of us, the waiter continuous asked how many of us and there was not table for six. But were only two people who need a table of two to have breakfast first. His attitude continued to the rest of us showed up. I just finished my pre-wedding photo make-up and dress, the waiter showed his arrogant to us, and ignored us for a while. I was so pissed off but it should be my happy day. Five years of happy life and perfect impression of York is totally ruined by him, and also my day. Since I had been watching him for the rest of day, i surprise found he only treated us so rude , Because we are the only asian guests. This might be nor not be the reason, however he made me wrote the one and the only first bad review for anything.

We had a very good stay. Unfortunately a waitress dropped food on my companions clothing but the hotel staff did their best to have the skirt cleaned - accidents will happen anywhere! We were rather too hot at night during exceptionally hot weather so air conditioning would have been nice. On the whole it was a good stay.
