Overall, the staff were exceedingly pleasant and the hotel was in a lovely spot. The rooms were quirky. The only disappointment was that our shower/bath mixer tap didn't work. Only the hot water worked so made it impossible to use - far far to hot. The receptionist did try to resolve, but being a sunday night, couldn't get anyone in to fix. We were offered another room to use as a shower room - but didn't exactly make for a relaxing experience having to go up and down a flight of stairs for shower! Would have been nice to have been offered a free drink or similar to make up for the inconvenience.

Beautiful hotel would highly recommend it, the staff were lovely, the breakfast was delicious and freshly cooked to order, we will definitely be returning.

Staff very helpful. Great themed hotel. Decor a little dark. Requested and paid for a small room o.k. For overnight but any longer would be a little too small. Overnight parking £10 a little expensive.

Excellent! Slept so well and the service was brilliant. Friendly and really helpful. Breakfast was yummy too

Love this place and everything about it. York is fantastic and this hotel adds a bit of magic to the experience.

Great location, check in was fast and the receptionist was very helpful. Unfortunately our room looked out onto the area the bins and laundry bins are filled/emptied so was very looud in the morning

I travel a lot in the UK and abroad and often return to the same hotels if I am happy with them. This hotel offers a very pleasant stay. Quality of room, service and food and beverages are very good. I would stay here again. Only one comment would be getting the pre-fix of the guest correct for written and spoken communication, despite it being corrected a couple of times in communications with the hotel - that personal touch is most important.
