A very enjoyable couple of nights. My only criticism is that the "Churchill" theme is a bit over-egged!

Fantastic location but otherwise a very average experience given the price. A hotel room in the basement, which you walk down some dingy stairs and the public toilets to get to was not my idea of a boutique hotel experience. Also the public areas and carpets had a stale beer smell like you get in a bar. The bathroom was also very small and awkward with the door opening into the small space. The bedroom was otherwise a good size but dark given we were in the basement. I was also shocked that they expect you to pay for parking given the cost of the room.

Our stay was excellent, service, room staff all good. The only down side happened in the restaurant. Our age group like our veggies cooked if they are so hard a fork will not pierce the flesh it's not on, they do not taste full of flavour. Maybe a warning on your menu will solve this and the chance to have them cooked longer. This marred a truly good trip to your city.

Really good. Staff were great and accommodation comfortable, however the room was very hot and we couldn't turn it down. A small gripe but it didn't detract from a lovely experience

Average room - rather small for two people. Good shower. Great staff. Enjoyed dining in the restaurant - dinner and breakfast.

It's a stunning hotel and would recommend. When a few things aren't quite right in such an establishment it's noticeable. Wouldn't put me off returning though.

Very disappointing as hotel received good reviews on Trip Advisor so I expected my stay to be much better. The old part of the hotel is very worn and tired and in need of a revamp. The carpet going up the stairs to the rooms was very dirty and stained - not a good first impression on arrival. The smell of food from the kitchen was very obvious in the bar area and carried up the stairs to the rooms. The TV reception was very poor. The reason given was the weather but even with good weather the reception was very intermittent.

Nice hotel overall. Rooms are nice and hotel has been decorated really well. Only down side I have is having to pay £10 to park. Don't think paying guests should have to pay to park on the premises

Great hotel in a very convenient location. The staff were extremely helpful and the food superb. I would definitely return on my next trip to York
