I was a little taken aback that the rooms were in the basement of this beautiful old building, and there were apparently no common spaces for sitting and reading, etc. The room itself was fine, and the service was excellent.

This is the second time that I have stayed at The Churchill and would highly recommend it for both business and leisure trips. The staff on both visits were so welcoming and friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. The bedrooms are very well appointed and tastefully decorated and furnished with a good selection of teas, coffees and complimentary mini kit-kats (a nice little extra)!

Absolutely loved this hotel and if I return to York I will be staying here again! The front desk staff was extremely helpful and friendly.

Very enjoyable, glad we paid all in advance on a deal, would have had a heart attack paying £15 for breakfast!!

Really good stay! Worth the money, thought breakfast was a bit too expensive though. Good selection of whiskeys in the bar.

Enjoyed our stay as the staff are very friendly and York is a lovely city. The room although small was well equipped with a lovely walk in shower. The meal in the restaurant was disappointing as the cheese burger was so salty as the cheese and the bacon were very salty. So much so i could only eat half of it. At £12 a disappointment.
However apart from that we really enjoyed our stay and I would stay there again. Although the parking is £10 it is invaluable to have that in York.

Overall very good. Corridors very dark and dull. Shower cubical floor very slippy. Needs a slip mat inside.
