The room (118) was very small, we were incredibly disappointed when we walked in. The room just did not reflect the hotel we thought we were coming into, it looks amazing on the outside. We were so gutted and felt so cheated by you that we felt we could not even enjoy the bar or restaurant as we had such a sour taste in our mouth. We've stayed at Hotel 53 and Hampton by Hilton in York, both hotels had much nicer bigger rooms for the same money compared to the corner cupboard you stuck us in.

The TV was at a funny angle on the wall so when lying on the bed after a busy day it was really awkward to watch.

To make it worse on Wednesday 12th at 6.30pm when I went for a shower, there was no hot water coming through, that was the icing on the cake for me.

Never has a hotel spoiled a getaway for us as much as you did. We love York, we've been 4 times now and we'll keep coming back. Hopefully other hotels will not let us down as much as you did!

While I only recommend that friends and family stay at places I find 5/5 across the board, I would have stayed again were it not for the overnight parking charge of £10. Seeing as the car park is private, I find it bad-mannered and cheap to charge guests on their arrival instead of being made to feel welcome. If it weren't for the parking charge (and what that tells you about the character of the ownership or management), we would almost definitely have returned. The service, on the other hand, was very good so this heightens the overall score.

Very pleasant stay. The bathroom was a little tight with the shower door opening on to the bathroom door. Should anyone fall or be taken ill, it would be difficult to gain access, therefore a health and safety issue.
Paying to park as a quest, considering the price of our stay was rather annoying, although we did know about this in advance.
I reported the inefficient hair drier to reception but it was not replaced.
Minor issues but worthy of note and did not spoil our experience.

Excellent stay at this hotel. Conveniently located, friendly efficient staff. The one thing we didn't like about our room was the lack of good lighting around the mirrors in the bathroom and dressing table area. This made it awkward to insert contact lenses and apply makeup.

This is the 3rd time we have visited York and have chosen The Churchill each time as its location is ideal and have always been impressed with the overall experience of our stay.
