Dissapointing !!saw hotel when in York last year and decided it would be a lovely place to stay this year, for our granddaughter graduation. We booked two nights,but only stayed one night due to the fact that we could not sleep due to the noise!!!we were in room 137,and there was a constant mechanical humming noise,which kept us awake. I went to reception at about 6:30 am and told the male receptionist that we would be booking out early.t There was also another male at the desk, which I took to be management,as we had seen this gentleman the previous evening around the bar.Hedid not acknowledge me , so I carried on putting our bags in the car. At about 8am when we were ready to leave,we spoke to a young lady on the desk, who was very helpful and sympathetic ,and offered to move our room.At this stage we decided it was too late as all our belongings were in our car. She did say that she would talk to the manager and see if we could have a refund for the one night,(as you have to pay for your accommodation on arrival !!??)and she would ring us with the outcome.At the time of writing this,we have heard nothing! The hotel is really nice,if,in my opinion,overpriced. This problem could have been handled better,in my opinion.
