The hotel was very beautiful. We found most employees a little too serious. No small talk just down to what we wanted. Not that we need small talk but it does create a friendly atmosphere. Definitely very polite though.

Todo muy bien, el hotel está demasiado bien, no hay hotel más bonito en Oaxaca. Pero las habitaciones no son espectaculares como esperarías por ese precio.

Amazing living history & excellent beds
We picked this hotel because of its 300+ year old history as a convent and we were not disappointed. The architecture includes authentic features such as 12-foot beam ceilings in guest rooms that once housed the nuns of Santa Catalina. The dining room and public restaurant El Refectorio has 18th century religious paintings and early colonial pottery in a 15-foot wall display. The staff were attentive and helpful with advice and with a space heater when it turned out our kind of room had no heat, only a.c. January does get down to 40s degrees F. Excellent beds which include heavy quilts, at least in winter. Perfect for those attracted to history and creative conversion of sturdy ancient buildings. We would visit again

This is our 2nd visit in 15 years, still the best hotel in Oaxaca.
